My research is motivated by social justice.
Currently, my primary disciplinary research field is parental leave. I analyze whether public policy meets the needs of all families equally. I compare Canada’s 14 Employment Standards Acts and two parental leave benefit programs: the Quebec Parental Leave Plan and the Employment Insurance Parental Leave Special Benefits Program.
My other disciplinary research field is organ donation. My focus has been on deceased donation. I have conducted research on kidney donation in Ontario, transplant tourism by Canadians, and deceased donation decisions by next-of-kin.
Lastly, I conduct research within the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. I researched critical thinking in multimodal debates with Marie Bartlett. This work is published online: Multimodal Debates: A SoTL Project.
